Lincoln Charter: A Personal Analysis

Improved Essays
Through high school, Lincoln Charter has been founded on the principles of honesty, respect, empathy, responsibility, service, and preparedness. While I have applied all of these principles in my life, two of those principles have played an important role in an activity outside of my academic life. Ever since the summer before my junior year I have become a monthly volunteer at Mecklenburg Community Church, in their youth ministry and I have strongly applied the principles of service and empathy. In volunteering monthly in their youth ministry it has shaped me as a person who is ready to serve others no matter what might be going on in my life outside of church. Life offers a multitude of life changing experiences, serving at Mecklenburg Community

The fact that I was able to lend a helping hand to somebody in need made me feel God’s gift of the Holy Spirit inside me. This brings me to my final point, the spiritual aspect of the Academy Oath. Doing good for others, as I did this summer, shines a entirely different light on how fortunate we are to attend such an amazing school and to live the lives that we lead. As students of CBA, we are called upon to do good for our neighbors. It is our moral duty to serve those in need in the name of God.…

I recently attended a Liberty University Convocation that really spoke to me while attending College For a Weekend. While I sat in the Vines’ Center seats, I listened to Donald Miller talk about the four kinds of people in a story: the victim, the villain, the hero, and the guide. I personally feel that my trials through life were given to me so I could fulfill the role of a guide in my life and others. My perspective is not commonly found in society today and I have a strong desire in my heart to help. I believe that Liberty University can help me grow and develop leadership skills to become what God has intended me to be to glorify him while helping others in their own individual lives.…

In this paper, I will discuss the issue of entrenching a charter by how it violates the principles of democracy. I would like to state that sections one and thirty-three are not sufficient enough to overcome this objection. More specifically, the discussion of my argument will mainly focus on how section one guarantees those rights; however there are reasonable limits in which we citizens cannot overpass. I will also focus my argument on how section thirty-three allows governments and legislatures to overtake the rights and freedoms that are prescribed by the charter. Indeed, Canadian citizens are protected by their rights and they live in a democratic society where they are encouraged to express their needs.…

Many experiences in my life have changed my views in multiple ways, but by far the most life changing experience has to be when I was elected Daingerfield District Vice-President for the FFA. This experience has broadened my comfort zone of shyness and unconfidence, and as the FFA Opening Ceremonies say, it brought me “into the glorious sunlight of brotherhood and cooperation.” I finally began to realize after Greenhand Camp, my freshman year, that I might have a potential future in the FFA. With the support of my chapter, friends, family and much devoted prayer, I was able to accomplish my fears and officially announce that I was running for District Officer.…

I am proud of my family and their commitment to serve others. Life’s meaning for me has always remained in the forefront of my existence; it is the belief that my true life happiness comes from serving others. As I move out of my depression with God’s help, I can move forward with Buekner (2006) reminding me contemplation of “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet” (p.112). His words will serve me well before I choose my next vocation and/or volunteer work. And while, I concluded earlier in the Leading Lives that Matter class, at Regis University, I do have more than one place where my deep gladness and needs of the world…

Graduating from a Jesuit high school and university has instilled in me the will to do what I, and most people, consider to be fair, honest, and morally right. Both institutions not only provided an exemplary education but supported me as I grew into the man I am today. Through the Jesuit education I inherited the moral philosophy of being a man with and for others. Keeping this goal in mind I participated in a multitude of retreats which shook me to my core and allowed me to realize how precious the bonds we create with family and friends are. I desired to broaden my view of the world during my freshman year at Saint Joe 's. Despite my nervousness, I decided to take an English class which incorporated service.…
