Songwriter and performer Lin-Manuel Miranda was born in January of 1980 in New York City. He grew up in the small Inwood neighborhood of Washington Heights in Manhattan with his mother, father, and sister. He developed a love for music and performing at a young age, acquiring roles in many high school productions and being surrounded by a family with the same musical interests (Haynes, 2017). Miranda is famously known for writing the two hit Broadway shows, In The Heights and Hamilton: An American Musical. He has also made many other contributions in music and performing arts in society today.
