The reason that there are no physical limits to human beings is because we will never collectively reach a point as a species where our brain no longer functions. Not in terms of survival, but in terms of thought, creation, and conception. Humans will always come up with new ideas, and new ways to do things. Our brain’s capacity for learning is endless, and that is because it is one of our natural gifts to be able to think, learn and adapt. Nobody has the power to control our consciousness and as a result of this, we are always able to think to ourselves, talk to ourselves, and be ourselves. You can control a prisoner’s life. You can control what time he wakes up at, when he eats, where he will work, whom he will interact with, where he will sleep, and when he will use the restroom, but you cannot control what he thinks. What makes our consciousness so powerful is the simple fact that it cannot be controlled, and therefore not limited. Without a consciousness, you are no longer a normal human being, so if someone were to find a way to actually take control of your consciousness, it would be a worthless effort, because once someone is unable to think for him or herself, or think to him or herself, they become useless. This may sound harsh, but it is the truth. They lose the very essence of their humanity, freedom of thought, and along with that, individualism. If someone found a way to control another human’s consciousness, they would no longer be a human, but rather a robot. The question, “Should human life be limited?” provokes a simple, yet surprisingly complicated answer. Human life should only be limited if absolutely necessary. For example in 2007, 36% of China’s population was subject to a strict one-child per household restriction. This policy was designed and enforced as a result over population in China. This is an example of limiting human
