I can't to much argue with the passage "It's Time to Let Go of Screen Fears," but I can the passage "Screen Time Limits Are Vital for Children." Here is why, there are wayy too much disturbing things on TV and on the internet that kids shouldn't be looking at, for one kids may end up seeing something on the internet or on TV involving sex, and try to experiment on one another. Just like it says in the passage " Screen time takes a mental and physical toll on kids," and it really does your have kids gaining so much weight from not wanting to go outside and play, they'd rather be on the internet or watch TV and eat. However, there is one thing I can agree on with the passage "It's Time to Let Go of Screen Fears," It says " New studies show that…

Furthermore, television has a harmful impact on our nation’s youth by promoting violence, sexual content, and foul language. Kids who absorb a lot of media are less likely to do well in school, be adjusted socially, and are more likely to be overweight than kids who are low users of media. Parents need to take control, and limit their kids screen viewing time ever day. Parents also need to make sure that the shows they are showing their kids are preselected, sensible shows. The fight to cut back on social media will be a tough one, but in the end it is worth the…

Screen time for children has some pros and cons about it. I believe that very young children, like younger than 4, should not have any screen time at all. However, when kids grow up they will start to need a phone for contacting family and such. Also, in school, sometimes the internet is needed to answer a question on homework. More time online for young kids can be hurtful to their interaction with the outside world.…

Often times the screen is on channels such as, FOX News or FX, rather than an educational PBS or Nickelodeon. The mass medias ability to attract spectators for hours at a time, influence viewers to purchase products, and portray characters in roles based on stereotype and prejudice, are only a few of the negative affects the media demonstrates to children viewers who watch their screens religiously. Pediatrics & Child Health’s article wrote an article titled, Impact of Media Use on Children and Youth, which regarded their belief that extensive media exposure should be an issue discussed with a child’s Pediatrician. The article says “The influence of the media on the psychosocial development of children is profound. Thus, it is important for physicians to discuss with parents their child’s exposure to media and to provide guidance on age-appropriate use of all media, including television, radio, music, video games and the Internet.”…

Screen Time or Green Time Regardless of any opinion one may have on the issue, screen time is greatly surpassing time spent outside by children. I remember being a child and being outdoors from the time I woke up until I went to bed; unlike my nine-year-old brother who is outside playing with friends and family no more than once a week. The question we must ask ourselves being: "Is this moving our children in a positive direction, or are we doing more harm than good by allowing this?" Some would say this is fine and that other factors like weather or supervision could lead to today's children not being outside playing. While those are factors in how a child spends their day, I don't believe they are strong enough factors to…

Screen time addiction, or screen obsession, is a vexed subject as the majority of parents and society view it as a problem, while rest feel that it is not a huge concern. Some feel the need for people to crack down on screen addiction because they compare the U.S to countries like South Korea or China where there already is an epidemic on screen usage. Also, screen time doesn’t just cover the internet, but much more, ranging from phone usage to video games, and just about anything that allows teens to be glued to a screen. Nearly all teens in the U.S own a smartphone, which is one of the biggest enablers of screen addiction. And even though the generations before us have lived glued to the TV, people still can’t let go that today’s technology…
