Within this article they observed the reliability of the 1RM strength test of untrained middle-aged subjects. This study included 25 males and 28 females, all untrained and aging 51.2 ± 0.9 years, making a total of 53 subjects whom participated in the study. Applicants started the first 1RM test (T1) 4–8 days after an adaptation session in which they completed the same exercises they would be performing. Overall, they used 7 different exercises for 1RM assessment. After T1, applicants completed another identical 1RM test (T2). There was then a follow up test (T3) completed 10 weeks later in which used only 27 of the original subjects. Overall, there were no major differences observed aside from leg press was slightly higher at T2 compared to T1 (1.6 ± 0.6%, p = 0.02). Thus, it has been shown that the 1RM test is a reliable method of assessing the maximal strength in untrained middle-aged individuals (Levinger, I., Goodman, C., Hare, D.
