Human Gait Recognition

Improved Essays
Gait recognition is a kind of biometric technology that can be used to monitor people or recognize known persons and classify unknown subjects. It is a particular way of walking on foot and its aims is to discriminate individuals by the way they walk. Gait is less unobtrusive biometric, non-contact, perceivable at a distance and hard to disguise where these properties makes it so attractive. The existing Gait representations capture both motion and appearance information which are sensitive to changes in various conditions such as carrying and clothing. Here proposed new method for gait recognition where in this method the firstly binary silhouette of a walking person is detected from each frame and secondly the feature from each frame is extracted …show more content…
There are several biometric measures which can be used to find an individual identity. They are physiological as fingerprints, face recognition, iris-scans and speech patterns. Human Gait recognition is a new biometric identification technology which aims to identify people at distance by the way they walk.
Gait has significant advantages compared to other biometric features are unobtrusive, difficult to conceal and perceivable at a distance. It is easily observable and it is difficult to disguise therefore using gait as a biometric feature has a great potential for human identification in public places for security. A unique advantage of gait as a biometric is that it offers potential for recognition at a distance or at low resolution or when other biometrics might not be

The most important point is to match up testing dataset with training dataset to identify the subjects where both systems are useful for access control in areas as office, airport, mega mall and other restricted places. The motion vision can be used for surveillance, access control, detection and other monitoring purposes. The most important advantage is that person walking image can be captured from long distance and the image is then processed with low resolutions. Here focus on two different techniques Principle Component Analysis (PCA) only and PCA with radon transform (RT) on machine vision for gait recognition purposes.
In gait recognition silhouette defined as a region of pixels of the walking person and the silhouette extraction mainly focuses on segmenting the human body. The silhouette extraction process is shown in

Watch groups could form and individual people could be more aware of what is going on around them. State-of-the-art technology should be added to assist law enforcement since they cannot be everywhere at one time. In addition to high tech surveillance, new technologies and intelligence could be added to police departments and agencies. This could help survey the known criminals on the internet. Training officers to be able to keep up with the growing field of technology is important in finding and arresting criminals.…

This is a significant advantage for law enforcement because a suspect can be identified as being in a particular location by using facial recognition. Another advantage of facial recognition technology is that it “is already in use under controlled situations. For example, when travelers approach border police for a travel document check, facial biometrics can easily check travel documents and watch lists, providing passport control officers an opportunity to spend more time on higher risk travelers” (Hess 2010 Prevention para 3). Facial recognition plays a big role in law enforcement and at airports and borders in order to track suspects and prevent them…

Computer Vision is commonly studied in three categories according to the degree of abstraction from the image: low-level, mid-level, and high-level. Low-level vision focuses on mapping pixel to pixel, which is best for detecting edges and features. Mid-level vision maps pixels to regions, which is used to detect three dimensional structures from motion. High-level vision maps pixels and regions to abstract categories (Huttenlocher, n.d.). In regards to human vision, images travel to the lateral geniculate nucleus(LGN), which separates the image into 2 parallel streams, the parvocellular layers containing color and fine structure, and the magnocellular layers containing contrast and motion.…

Finger image or raw finger image is enhanced, preprocess, and feature extracted including minutia, valley and ridge structure to improve quality and speed of recognition. I select FFT in my project for fingerprint recognition .some time the input finger image are not satisfy the certain condition of FFT such as feature of finger image are store in database but coefficient vector of that image are larger then the pervious store image then the FFT method do not understand that image vector and not work properly. FFT is very reliable and accurate method for fingerprint recognition. I select FFT method for Fingerprint recognition in my project because it is a more reliable method and fast calculation .The implement of FFT method are very robust and…

Schiro states, "Videotape can provide a perspective on the crime scene layout which cannot be as easily perceived in photographs and sketches. It is a more natural viewing medium to which people can readily relate, especially in demonstrating the structure of the crime scene and how the evidence relates to the crime." This article goes on to say how moving slowly is a major key to videotaping a crime scene. This helps to reduce the chance of a crime scene investigator to skip over key evidence due to moving too quickly (Schiro, 2016). In the article "Written Documentation at a Crime scene" written by Mike Byrd, he discusses the importance of note taking at a crime scene.…
