Significance of IQ is overestimated: EQ can matter even more
Purpose
To convince the audience to take the side of emotional intelligence being more important than human intelligence in the EQ vs. IQ debate

I. Introduction

A. Attention getter: I am here today to share with you the idea that goes against the social convention. It completely breaks the stereotypes that in order to be successful in life, one must be highly intelligent, therefore have high IQ score. Yes, there is a correlation between how smart you are and your success, but its significance is overestimated far from its reality.

B. Background: In 1983 Howard Gardner, developmental psychologist from Harvard, proposed the theory of multiple intelligences. Among those types there are human intelligence

B. Influence of human intelligence on employment
Human intelligence is a technical expertise of a person, but high IQ does not guarantee promotion or leadership position.
Signpost – Since human intelligence does not predict success, ‘then what does’ you ask yourselves. It is actually an easy question to answer with the following part of my speech.

III. EI distinguishes those who are most likely and capable of getting top positions at work (Poskey, 2013).

B. Positive outcomes of those features
1. Resolving stress/problems at work
2. Sustaining good relationships with co-workers
