The movie Lilo and Stitch is a Disney animated family movie based in Hawaii. It is considered a science fiction comedy drama film. Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders directed Lilo and Stitch. This film illustrates many Claudia Gorbmans Composition principles. This film is about a young girl named Lilo who encounters a weird species/ creature also known as an alien who is the most wanted in the galaxy and considers that species/ creature her dog. She eventually named her dog Stitch. Stitch in the movie is a genetic experiment that came from a plane crash and ran away after the incident. That is why he is the most wanted. Lilo is a lonely little girl who lives in Hawaii with her sister after a recent death of their parents in a car accident. She …show more content…
This shows for many young moms or youth who are alone that they are not the only ones going through this dilemma. Being given responsibility at a young age only makes you appreciate what you have and whom you have. The heart of family is also very incorporated through the Hawaiian theme. Disney makes a great impression on how family is important and sometimes that is the only people you have whoever you consider family. Struggles of being alone will only make you stronger and that many things happen for a reason. For example there was a reason why Lilo met Stitch, to help her open up grow and get away from the loneliness she felt from her parents death. Stich might have been a troubled creature but he brought Lilo and Nani together closer then they were already were. The music in this film also incorporates how culture ties into family. The culture of Hawaiian music brings Hawaiian families together as one to celebrate life and what they have. Not for materialistic things but for their presence. The song Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride by Mark Keali Ho’omalu and the Kamehema illustrates how sometimes life is a roller coaster like in the waves of the Hawaiian ocean. Life has its up ad down but at the end family is important and being strong will get you through tough times just how Lilo and Nani had to. The soundtrack to Lilo and Stitch has …show more content…
For example her 3rd principle called Signifier of Emotion ties in with the Soundtrack of Lil and Stitch because the song Hound Dog by Elvis Presely illustrates how Lilo feels towards her classmates. It brings a sense of emotion of sadness and bitterness in the song. Although this song by Elvis Presely is meant to be happy and joyful, this song to Lilo is joyful but also something she really feels when Elvis lyrics states “ You ain’t nothing but a Hound Dog. You ain’t no Friend of mine”. Being in the audience as well we understand her pain and her emotions because this happens all the time. People are bullied daily by those who cause pain and are nothing but cruel to others. Another princple that Claudia Gorbmans ties in with the film Lilo and Stich is the 5th principle Continuity. The way the music is set up is in continuity because there is a certain order these songs come out during dialogues between the characters. It fills a gap where it leaves the audience to begin to think what is going to happen next. While the audience begins to think what will happen next in the scene, Hawaiian music is being played so that we understand more of the movie and the background. The music fills a gap/ during transitions. The last principle that Claudia Gorbman has in common is the 6th principle Unity. This movie is all about unity not only in the theme but in the music as well. The music seems to

When Hillyard’s mom shared food with the Italian family that she had many arguments with, it becomes clear that these people must look past their differences to keep on the fight and to keep on living. Together they are stronger. A subtler approach to showing all the characters from so many different backgrounds coming together is in the nondiegetic sound. Nondiegetic sound means that it is “sourced outside the story” and that “the characters can’t hear it” (Shared class files). In the first part of the movie, there were certain instruments that are symbolic of each group of people who would be played when the characters were in the scene.…

While the concepts of death are identical around the world – that death is irreversible, final, casual, and inevitable – it’s apparent that there are many differences in the various themes related to death and dying. These various themes are abundant in number, but the ones particular to the movie P.S I Love You include the following: the principles of a good death, end-of-life decisions, last rites, facing death – coping styles, and the big topic of grief. The movie P.S I Love You focuses on the journey of a woman, Holly, who lost her husband of 35 due to a brain tumor, and the difficulties that she must overcome as a result of his death. Casablanca, a romantic drama directed by Michael Curtiz, is an extraordinary example of classic Hollywood cinema. The perfection of its continuity editing allows shots to flow seamlessly into one another with no call for attention. They are filled with small details that at first seem irrelevant in the situation, but later on reveal their narrative significance. One of those elements is the song "As time goes by", that becomes a main theme of Rick, a man who sticks his neck out for nobody, and Ilsa, who let go of her true love to be by the side of a man who fights for freedom. The most influential music in my life is the song “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. Both my dad and I love country music, especially Tim McGraw. My dad thinks the world of my older sister and I. Like any great father, he would do absolutely anything for his girls. Whenever he hears this song on the radio, or wherever, he turns the volume up and belts out this song. This song makes me so grateful that I have such a huge blessing as my father, I don’t know what I would ever do without him.…

It is definitely important to remember Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories because it helps us understand the hardships they faced as a culture and it can further help us recognise how we can close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people share four main world views; culture, land, place and country and relationships. The world view, relationships, is conveyed many times in each of the literary texts by relating back to certain events that Aboriginal elders faced. Three texts that clearly represent the world view relationships are,; Change the Game, by the Colli Crew; Treaty, by Yothu Yindi and Took the Children Away, by Archie Roach. The Colli Crew’s song, Change the Game, is about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people- mostly describing the people of the past; in the text, it states that they are singing from north Queensland near the border.…

When no score is present, other diegetic sounds add to the overall audio-visual environment of the film. The usage of the alternate versions of Okuribito at different points of the film coincide with research by Boltz, Shulkind, and Kantra, (1991, pp593-606) stating background music has a profound effect on retention of filmed events. This is further solidified by “opening credit and end title music…as recurring musical themes that come to represent characters or situations within the film” (Libscomb & Tilchinsky, 2005, p10). With such complex usage of sound and music, the film is able to foreground its dialogue and visual aesthetic without saturating the scene with too much music, instead opting for ambient sounds while only allowing the score to play when attempting to elicit and emotional response. The control of sound was a main theme that most likely earned the film an…

This is emphasized in situations where people actually had health insurance, but were denied in order to save the company money. Which, in turn, most likely instills anger in the viewer. Anger that though these people had insurance and thought they were safe, they were turned away by doctors because their insurance companies were greedy and didn 't value their lives as much as they value money.
