Liliana Molina Essay

A five year old Liliana Molina is a Hispanic female whom has had multiple care givers in her short life up to now. From the moment of her birth she was already in an abusive and drug infested household. Her Father, Richard Molina, was a drug addict and frequently abused her mother. One day her father died from his drug overdose, before she was even two years old. Her Mother, Lilith Molina, soon after took her own life. A neighbor had noticed that the mother had been absent for some time. They saw Liliana outside who silently approached her and grabbed them by the their legs tightly and did not let go. The first foster home she was placed was with a married elderly couple, Clark Jones and Lauren Jones. This set of caregivers lasted about two years. Her foster parents were very neglectful and did not show any signs of caring. In fact she was hit abusively when she would complain. It was assumed that they only took her for the money gained from fostering her. This neglect left Liliana to constantly get into accidents at home or when she was playing but was not ever taken to the hospital. Due to this neglect she was always wandering alone in the neighborhood and one of the neighbors took a malicious interest in the young girl. She began to see the strange man frequently. One day a teenage girl was walking to school and had noticed that she had been passed out near the strange mans house. She took the Liliana to the hospital and they deduced that she had been sexually abused frequently and she had injuries due to neglect that needed treatment. This was the first time this couple would be taking care of a child. Patricia was eager but her husband Joshua was hesitant and was an alcoholic, but this was only known by Patricia who kept quiet about it. Patricia was caring to Liliana but seemed to be adjusting at the time. They did not acknowledge her properly when they noticed she was more comfortable with strangers. Patricia was aware of her background, so she thought that maybe she needed time to adjust. Joshua’s alcoholism had increased during the first three months of taking in Liliana. He started to become very abusive, both verbally and physically. He acted this way to both Patricia and Liliana. Patricia quit her job too ensure that Joshua one day did not drunkenly snap and take it out on Liliana. He frequently kept Patricia and Liliana isolated from each other and threatened Patricia to keep quiet. One day Joshua was so drunk that he blacked out and Patricia took the opportunity to run off to her brother’s house. She ended up taking Joshua to court for full custody and charged him for all the abuse he had
