She continues to persevere in her fight to give freedom and justice to all political prisoners in Venezuela. In hope to be heard around the globe, she traveled to various important places spreading her voice. Her first destination was Harvard University, where her husband obtained his Master’s Degree, to receive the HKS Alumni Achievement Award. This award is given to a distinguished graduate yearly, and it stands for acknowledging the impact the person has had in the improvement of human conditions inside a social group. Leopoldo is the first graduate in history honored with this title that was unable to receive it in person, due to his situation. Next Lilian met with the Pope at the Vatican to have a word with him and lead a pacific manifestation in Spain afterwards. She also visited Argentina, Brasil, Chile, and Panama with the same purpose of being heard. Overall, Lilian has not only been an amazing example, but led an amazing life full of accomplishments. First of all, she completed the full iron man challenge, which is considered one of the greatest athletic trials of all time. She was also titled as a national champion doing kitesurf in 2009. Not only is she amazing in everything she does, but she also views it as an opportunity to give back and do something bigger than herself. She turned her kitesurf achievement into an opportunity to create a foundation called “Porkite Foundation”, which provides kitesurfing gear to the least fortunate kitesurfers.
