Niatia “Lil Mama” Kirkland has had many roles throughout her career as she is a dancer, actress, and entertainer; but many now only know her as a meme, or a played out joke. Lil Mama’s first single, “Lip Gloss” came out in 2007 and was the game changer for her becoming career and had everything needed for a one hit wonder – a catchy beat, a catchy dance and something women of all ages could relate to, lip gloss. Although, her flow wasn’t awful and her dance moves were on point, people didn’t quite know what to do with Lil Mama when she was first introduced to the mainstream media. I recommend that Lil Mama, first drop the “lil mama” stage name, as it will forever be seen as childish, especially as she is just a couple years shy of thirty. Going with her government name, Niatia Kirkland will show the world she has matured from that phase in her life and is ready to be respected for all of her many talents. I would then have her do a photo-shoot under her new name with an entire new look, which could be used to represent a personal evolution and maturity. I suggest Lil Mamma post via social media, a series of photos in full glam mode including full-length gowns, showing the sophisticated woman she has become. Hopefully for the first time, Lil Mama will be seen as sexy in the way that the industry expects from a female rapper. In one photo I would specifically suggest she crouches down in the iconic Lil Kim pose that has been recreated throughout the years as a way to pay respect and homage to the female rapper who paved the way for all female
