Lifetime Mate: A Personal Statement Analysis

While the students and I sat at our desks in our Psychology 101 class today, our professor began speaking of a writing assignment that she would like us to complete. She began to hand out a sheet of paper with the instructions. I was slightly excited knowing that I excel, at times, when writing papers and this would be a chance to get my grade up. Hopefully to an A. As she handed the paper out, I wondered what topic I would research. There are so many topics in the field of psychology that interest me. I have even divulged myself into researching for my own personal knowledge, so this would be a piece of cake for me. And that's when I got the handout entitled "Lifetime Mate." For a minute I sat there confused. The instructions on the top of the page went as followed: "Write a personal letter to a future or current lifetime partner (husband, wife, or significant other)," and went on to prompt us with ten questions to answer in the body of our letter. This wasn't a research paper for a psychology class, I thought to myself. This is more of a prompt for a creative writing English class.
