Toyota recall and culture Essay

Toyota is one of the most successful car manufacturers of all of the times and with a large corporation with a great culture and also with employees that shares the values. But in 2009 Toyota started having problems with their cars recalling 4.3 millions of cars when the gas-pedal was the problem. In this essay I will discuss what happened with the recall that Toyota had, the culture different that existed with Japan and U.S and five concept terms that have sociology. The real problem became in 2010 when a second recall was made for 2.3 million of cars having the same problem which now were more over 50 percent of Toyota U.S annual sales but was not all beside that 4.2 million of cars were also recalled because

But Americans consider the silent actions as an act of ignorance and unprofessionalism. They prefer answers first and actions second.”(Shanto 1). They have major difference and are communication skills, winning attitude, and methodology of maintaining strategies for both countries U.S and Japan. In my opinion this was indeed because both countries don’t speak the same language as the first language and if both national don’t live in the same country it’s more difficult because there’s a danger that they only commutate by phone instead of face to face. And identifying the goal of the communication across cultures means field of study that looks at how people from differing cultural backgrounds communicate, in similar and different ways among themselves. An example of a goal of the communication across cultures is a program of Toyota public relations to begin to think how to work in the way to communicate with people that are from Japan, India, The United Kingdom, Central America and all around the …show more content…
First culture shock means personal disorientation when experiencing an unfamiliar way of life. An example would be when a person start a job in Toyota and he or she is the only new person working there or if someone immigrates to a new country to work also for Toyota both are experience unfamiliar norms in customs, dress and mores. Second symbol means anything that carries a particular meaning recognized by people who share a culture. An example would be the gestures that Japanese use to express or to mean something like greeting each other they bow instead of handshaking like in America that they shake hands to each other. The third is values meaning culturally defined standards that people use to decide what is desirable, good, and beautiful and that serve as broad guidelines for social living. An example would be the communication that Toyota employees that has with the Company’s relationship with others. Fourth would be culture that means the way of thinking, the ways of acting and the material objects that together form a people’s way of life. An example would be when Japan and U.S decide to get together to make parts to use in Toyota cars. Five is language that means a system of symbols that allows people to communicate with one another.
