Personal Narrative: Hurricane Katrina

Life… life 's an hourglass, especially for humans like you and me. It was the year of Hurricane Katrina. Being one of the deadliest hurricanes to hit the US, damage had been done to southern countries like New Orleans, Louisiana. The death toll was also at a large scale as well. Now I was only six at the time, therefore I didn’t really apprehend and sympathize the significance of the hurricane. Also, living in New Jersey, we were not affected by Katrina. The air was starting to get chilly, and the leaves were evolving into magnificent colors of red, orange, and yellow. The aroma of the environment was unnormally pleasant. My favorite holiday, Halloween, was coming up and I was beyond excited. Everything was normal and going well.

She had a bandana on to cover her frail bald head. I was shocked at her fatigue appearance. Previously, in school, I had crafted a dolphin, our favorite animal, for her. I was meaning to send it to her but I had no time. So during the facetime call I showed it to her and promised I would send it to her. We all talked for about an hour and then they had to go and hung up. I lingered to my room where I thought about Nana and why she looked so fragile and different. She didn’t seem as happy as usual. Then, two weeks later, the worst day of my life came into place. It was an empty morning. I went downstairs to grab so breakfast. I snatched my favorite cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios, and dashed to the bus stop. It was a usual school day, boring as heck. When I got home the atmosphere seemed dense. My dad was home, which was unusual because, he was never home before me. Also, my brother was home early from school. I ran up the stairs to look for my parents. I heard my dad call “Nick” in an empty voice. I slowly opened the door and found everyone sitting on bed of my parents room. Everyone 's faces were serious and dim. That was when I learned that Nana had passed away this
