Juveniles have the ability to change while in jail. The children sentenced to juvenile are all so young and have time to change. Unlike adults, children are still learning consequences of their actions. It is hard to change if the child has “noted that, like the death penalty, life without parole offered no hope of ever reconciling or reentering the society and that life without hope there was little incentive to develop into a responsible person” (Lowry,2014,881). Punishing children for life without parole is not doing the child justice. Juveniles have the mentality and ability to change. Their brains are not developed emotionally which makes it hard to think through situations. Giving a child a second chance to make things right can honor the victims’ family and they can live for the victim. The benefit of banning this law is going all juveniles the hope of change.
