Have you ever thought about life with no parents? Well in the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding the characters had to live without any adults at all on an island. In this essay you will be told about how Golding uses this book as a social commentary while showing the evolution of the boy's mental state and physical behaviors as time progresses throughout the story by having no adults. Having no adults affects the kids fighting for power and hating each other, kids dying, the kids splitting up, and showed how the naval officer symbolized them being civil again.

"You and your blood, Jack Merridew! You and your hunting! We might of gone home--". This is when Jack and Ralph first start to argue and split up. If there were parents they wouldn't of felt the responsibility of being leaders and would of became friends instead of uncivil and savages to each other. Towards the end Jack and Ralph are totally split up and Jack is turning everyone against Ralph. "There isn't a tribe for you anymore! The conch is gone--". This is what Jack said to Ralph after Piggy got killed. Jack is losing his civilness and not caring about anyone but himself and singling out Ralph.
