Personal Narrative: Life With Four Brothers

Life with Four Brothers In the Eldridge household, there are five children. I am the oldest of those children. I am also the only girl, because there is only one other option of gender (not counting the ones society tries to push on us, none of my siblings think they are cats or anything of that nature) this means all my siblings are boys. This also means I am one of two girls in the entire house. Having a two to five ratio of girls to boys the house gets a little hectic, and when I say gets a little hectic what I really mean is it’s a straight up mad house twenty-four seven. The sibling break down is Lydia (that’s me!) eighteen years old, Ross sixteen years old, Mark fourteen years old, Justice (and yes, I meant to wright Justice, it’s not a typo for Justin) ten years old, and Clayton eight years old. We were fairly consistent with the two-year age gap, except between Mark and Justice. That wider age gap between Mark and Justice creates an obvious divide among the siblings. This also, for the most part, dictates who hangs out with who, Justice and Clayton hang out together and Ross and Mark hang out …show more content…
The symptoms of this are quite easy to recognize and are very commonly found as the name would suggest in the youngest child of a family. Children with Y.C.S. think that rules do not apply to them, they try to get away with things that any older siblings would never have been able to do without the all might wrath of mom and dad coming down on us. They also live under the illusion that they can get out of doing work that was assigned for the house as a whole to accomplish. This obviously enrages us older siblings as we get stuck doing work that should have been theirs to do. To make this long story short, he’s mom’s little baby and thinks he can do anything he wants as long as he looks cute and fake cry’s about

I interviewed my seventy-five year old grandpa Donnie, researched the Voyles lineage book that my grandma Arlene helped compile, and talked with my dad in order to find out more about my family’s history. According to Grandpa Donnie, it all began in 1759 when Jacob Voils, his wife, and his four sons landed in Port Charleston from Wales. Jacob was a poor man and could not afford the family’s way to Charleston. Desperate, he made a deal with the ship’s captain to indenture his oldest son William Voils as a crew hand for four years in exchange for the family’s way. Upon regaining his freedom, William furiously changed the spelling of his last name to Voyles to break all ties from his father Jacob.…

My brother Lester was first diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at the age of sixteen. Paranoid schizophrenics often have false delusions and auditory hallucinations, causing them to see things-people or objects that aren’t really there or to hear voices no one else can hear. It’s difficult for schizophrenics to differentiate between their illness and reality. For the most part, they can’t. It was hard for my family to accept the diagnosis, but we learned to deal with it.…

Family Introduction Creating this genogram was a difficult task for me because my parents and their siblings hardly communicate with each other anymore. Ever since the passing of both my paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother, the families have simply fallen apart. As a child, having rules to follow wasn’t unheard of with my family. There was always a way to behavior with friends/family, at school, at home and out in the street. Often I found myself getting into trouble because I didn 't listen and also the fact that I always found some kind of way to slipping out of having to doing something that I knew I was supposed to do. But out of all the people in my family my mom was the strictest. When expectations set high, not meaning them meant my siblings and I typical had a week long cleaning punishments along with handing over all toys, games, and light up sneakers; about three times a week this happened to me.…
