Religion vs. Science in Life of Pi
Does Pi believe in Religion or Science?
As Albert Einstein once said, ”Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” This quote indicates that science without moral values would be a disaster and religion runs on scientific knowledge so you would have to be blind not to notice them. This quote basically states that there needs to balance between science and religion because they both are important. In the novel, “Life of Pi” by Yann Martel the characters seem to believe in science, religion, or both. The protagonist of the story (Pi) believes in both. Mr. Kumar (Pi’s biology teacher) believes in science. Last but not least, Pi's priest, imam and pandit all believe in religion. What is the correct belief?
Pi believes in science and religion which upsets the only science and only religion characters in the novel. “I'll be honest about it. It is not atheists who get stuck in my craw, but agnostics.
