Life Of Pi Lifeboat Suffering

Throughout The Life Of Pi, Pi suffered turmoil and hardships. Even before the tragedy of the Tsimtsum sinking and Pi having to suffer for 227 days at sea, he had to deal with troubles at home. Pi was bullied, and I don't believe that anyone enjoys being bullied. Students and even teachers are purposely pronounced his name wrong. Fellow classmates taunted him by calling him "pissing". Pi's actual name is Piscine. Pi got his name from a swimming pool, interesting enough. The swimming pool was named Piscine Molitor. It's unfortunate enough to be called "pissing" at school, but being named after a pool might even be worse. Eventually "Pissing" turned into "Pi". This was able to happen because Pi decided enough was enough. He went to all the chalk boards in his school and wrote the name "Pi" on all of them. Eventually, people caught on and stopping calling his "Pissing" and started calling him "PI". These particular events show pre-lifeboat suffering. Some may argue that this situation it's self isn't a situation where suffering is present, but it in fact is. I'll explain why and how, for example, Pi was no older than about eight when this happened. Controversial things that you see when you're younger can either scar you or make you stronger. Luckily this didn't faze Pi too much, but he still emphasizes the uneasiness of it all, Uneasiness is a "watered down" version of suffering.
