Ultimately, Pi’s approach at his identity while stranded in the ocean shows the actions he is willing to take to survive demonstrates that an individual responses to an uncontrollable circumstance reinforces their identity through the will to survival.
Pi is a naive, family–oriented, religious boy who sees the positive in the eyes of others, which blinds his eyes from seeing the true duality life presents and offers.
