Life Of Pi Identity Essay

One’s response to situations are based upon how their identity changes and how true they remain to themselves. Throughout, various challenging circumstances an individual is determined to all in its power to succeed and overcome the obstacles thrown in their direction; whether they emphasize or reshape identification. The actions the individual proceeds reflects how the identity can be reinforced subsequently after the unpredictable events occur; specifically allowing the individual to bring forward the intellectual side which benefits the way the situation is negotiated. Throughout the novel, Life of Pi, Pi is a young, caring, poly-religious, god-fearing, vegetarian Indian boy, who grew and developed through his childhood in India. Ultimately, Pi’s approach at his identity while stranded in the ocean shows the actions he is willing to take to survive demonstrates that an individual responses to an uncontrollable circumstance reinforces their identity through the will to survival.
Pi is a naive, family–oriented, religious boy who sees the positive in the eyes of others, which blinds his eyes from seeing the true duality life presents and offers. Pi grew up in a small community within India where he did not see much of the world, a build his personality on the experiences, beliefs, and events which occurred throughout his childhood.
