Life of Pi displays these primary values, evident when he gains control over Richard Parker, a mid shot displaying the changing power levels and highlight his determination. The human instinct to survive empowers Pi to build resilience when faced with a new and confronting situation. The necessity of determination and bravery is shown within The Door through the repetition of the command, “Go and open the door”. This line is repeated five times through the poem, at the forefront of each stanza. The continuous repetition highlights that it may be necessary for an individual to try more than once, therefore by repeating the line the reader is given the courage and strength to initiate the discovery despite the uncertainty that may be
