Stranded, lost between your soul and the earth, stuck with two monsters, a four hundred- fifty pound Bengal Tiger and your mind. Pi Patel was an innocent sixteen year old indian boy, caught in a spiral of unfortunate events. Pi was first devastated when his parents said the family was selling the zoo and moving to Canada. Then, the ship (Tsimtsum) sunk in the Mariana’s Trench don’t think it sank here. He luckily survived, even after being trapped with Richard Parker (the Bengal Tiger) for two hundred twenty seven days in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel is a novel that uses many symbols to connect Pi to aspects of science, religion, and survival. Piscine Molitor Patel (Pi Patel) was swimming at the edge of death, but he survived, which has left him with unforgettable memories, experiences, and relationships to last him a lifetime.

Pi has experienced a lot in his lifetime. From practicing three religions in his home country, to being stranded in the middle of the Pacific with a vicious seasick tiger. He learned a lot through the obstacles and symbols that showed him a new perspective before reaching his final destination in Canada. Without being traumatized, Pi is living happily with his family in Canada. (He got married and has two children and a few pets as well.) In the end, this story proves that however many hardships you go through, life will turn out just fine in the end. The thesis is not really restated
