God sent Moses and his brother, Aaron, to tell Pharaoh to set his people free. The Israelites had been slaves in Egypt for over 400 years. Pharaoh refused to let God's people go until God sent ten plagues upon Egypt. Finally, he let the Israelites go. When God led the people out of Egypt, He didn?t lead them on the easiest road. He took them through the desert toward a big sea called the Red Sea. God took care of His people. Meanwhile, back in Egypt, when the king of Egypt realized that the Israelites were gone, he changed his mind and decided he wanted them back again. So Pharaoh took his best men and chariots and chased the Israelites. Moses told them to not to be afraid, to stand, stay calm and watch the lord save you. This is how he achieved his power with the Israelites by showing them he can take care of them and keep them safe. He used his power by raising his hand over the sea, while the Lord opened up a path through the ocean with a strong east wind. The people walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground. Moses raised his hand again and the water returned, the entire army of the Pharaoh drowned. The Israelites now believe in Moses' power that they witnessed. As he grew up, he was still aware of his Hebraic roots and still cared about the Israelites deeply. He became furious while witnessing an Egyptian master brutally beating a Hebrew slave, and he impulsively killed the Egyptian. Fearing the Pharaoh's punishment, he fled into the desert of Midian, becoming a shepherd.
After 40 years have passed, while looking after the sheep in the mountain wilderness, he saw a bush burning not turning to ash. He heard a voice from within the bush telling him that he had been chosen to serve as one to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. Moses was 80 years old when God spoke to him at the burning bush.
During his leadership, Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. They crossed the red sea as the Pharaoh and Egyptians followed them, but the water closed and they all drowned. They found themselves at Mount Sinai. This is where Moses received the 10 Commandments from God. The 10 Commandments was the law for all the Israelites to follow. Moses gave them to the Israelites and they obeyed. For the next 40 years Moses would attempt to lead the people to the promised land-the land flowing with milk and
