For a young boy with Mexican immigrant parents deciding where to live isn’t exactly a choice onto decide. My parents worked hard to keep us healthy and fed but it wasn’t easy over time and heavy stress, only seeing my father several hours a week. I was a little kid so energetic and I wouldn’t realize the

I am a leader and have the qualities of a great one. Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader... they set out to make a difference, it’s never about the role-always about the goal. Those are the words that inspire me to become a better one every day.

I wasn’t always the most social person on stock but I knew deep inside that I would have an impact in several people’s lives. Freshmen year came by and my first opportunity came I was in need of community service hours and a U-8 team was in need of a coach. I always had a passion for the sport of soccer but I always made my impact inside the pitch not on the sideline. I volunteered as coach knowing this would help my view of the sport take a different angle and maybe improve from that. I signed a couple papers, received the uniforms and other equipment and I was on my way. I had a difficult challenge ahead and the first game was a month away at Ford Park in Bell

Apparently my team was the only team who had no club players and 6 out of the 11 players were rookies. I knew this season wasn’t going to be an effortless one but that wasn’t going to cease the fact that I would lead the team into the playoffs. I quickly knew I needed the support of others to get the team going. After tiring practices the team was ready to face the first matches. The first match came by and the team was a mess we created opportunities but the ball wouldn’t go in and we lost 3-1 which would be our only defeat. That defeat motivated me to increase the intensity of the practices and it was successful because at the end of four months we were

When asked to define myself in one paper, I find it hard to show the details that I want to in the right light. When asked about my future after high school, I also have a hard time describing everything I want to get done because there are far too many things to name. The quote “ _____” (i want to be everyone and do everything and there isn’t enough life to do it all in) describes me to a tee, and I believe this college is the place I could do this in. Being a shy person for most of my life, many things were difficult for me. Specifically, last summer I had the opportunity for a summer job.…

I took it upon myself to encourage everyone to remain optimistic and try even harder to do well. My strategy helped us improve, and even if we still were not winning, we were at least acting as a team and making small adjustments, especially in communication and overall teamwork. There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…
