Most members know when the deadline to have paperwork is in, especially record books, so we learn to use our time appropriately to finish on time. Another place that this is used in my life is getting scholarships turned in by deadline, or any college paperwork. Even though we all grumble when we have to get record books done, we are learning a valuable lesson that will benefit us down the road. I will be grateful for this as the year is coming around and I am filling out tons of college paperwork, and I’ll remember all that 4-H has taught me. Not only will I just need to remember this as I finish high school I will have to remember this throughout all of college, as I have to have papers and homework turned in, and as I get out into the real world on my own I will remember how to manage my time to get my work done on time. When I have a family, I will have to use time management to get many things accomplished. Whether we are junior leaders and help with different areas at the county fair, teach classes at family fun night, or we are officers in our clubs, each is teaching how to be a leader. Through 4-H I have learned to step out of my comfort zone and help others out and ask questions. I am no longer afraid to ask strangers questions or afraid to help a little kid who is struggling out. Later on in life I know that I will be able to lead others to reach goals as a group. 4-H teaches kids how to be confident in who they are and not to be afraid to take a stand against the crowd. Great leaders will do just these things, they are not afraid to take a stand and let people know how they feel. Leaders can also lead in different ways, some lead by example, some by yelling and demanding, and some just do what they need to do and hope others
