The universal idea is that our teen years are said to be the stage of growth in which we learn and mentally grow the most. Our teen years teach us the important tips that we will take to adulthood. Although I am only 18 years old, my teen years up until this point of adulthood have taught me so many important skills, lessons and overall important life tips. 2014-2015 in Hardee County were considered the “dark years”, that being because one right after the other so many young lives were being ripped right from under this small county. It was a time that no matter how hard I try, I will never forget, a dark time of some many unexplained events that to this very day I still question why our small county? Those dark events have changed my perspective on life completely. Losing 6 young lives almost consecutively can really make one think about life and realize that maybe I have not lived at all. I lost some of the most vibrate people I knew, Jenesse then Tyshawn, my cousin Jackson, Drew, Travis and the finally London. One right after the other, they were vibrant souls each and everyone, they all lived life to of them but their deaths taught me a real life lesson, life is short, life is very short and can be taken from anyone of us at anytime. We have to live while we can, be vibrant at all times, life is short and we have to live it while we still have

My key life lessons are that nothing beats hard work and if you treat others with respect, they will generally treat you with respect. Hard work and effort are the main aspects that lead to “lucky” things happening. Good things don’t just fall into people’s laps, the ones that have the most “luck” generally are those that put in the most effort and work. Also, I have learned that when you truly respect those around, they will respect you back and life is much easier when you aren’t doing things behind each other’s backs.…

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

In the stories “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara, and “The Struggle to be an All American Girl” by Elizabeth Wong, and the poem “Indian Boarding School: The Runaways” by Louise Erdrich, each of the writers focus on the positive and negative aspects of education. While part of the setting for Louise Erdrich’s poem and Elizabeth Wong’s story take place inside an actual school, the setting for Toni Cade Bambara’s story doesn’t take place inside a school; however, for all three stories, the characters in them are taught very important lessons. When I think about the three readings it reminds me that we have important lessons in our life that we have to learn from. Everyone has a lesson they have to learn in life no matter what it is…

My experience at Dimmick was always fun. There aren’t that many words that I could use to describe it and because I was here from Kindergarten through eighth grade, it makes it even harder to be able to describe how incredible the school is. I remember when I was done with preschool and my mom asked me whether I wanted to go Kindergarten at the same place as my preschool or go to Dimmick. I decided to move onto Dimmick, which was an amazing decision that I am glad I made. Some of the lessons taught at Dimmick don’t make sense at the time, but over time, they make more and more sense because we not only use these lessons in the classroom, we use them in the real world all the time.…

The main contention of the book A Lesson Before Dying is the inequality between white and black people. Throughout the book we see a change in the characters’ attitudes to this situation forced upon them by society. The author’s details suggest the ability to change the world through your beliefs and what you know is true. Jefferson and Grant’s realization helped to spark the country’s awareness to how wrong the oppression the majority of people were giving to African Americans everywhere. Jefferson’s realization that he could die a man and a martyr, Grant’s refusal to be a bystander to the constant racism, and the society’s reaction to victories similar to these helped carry out the civil rights movement that changed America forever.…
