(Best) With Inequality for All addressing the economics America, we can see that economics is socially constructed. People made America and they also created its many problems. This makes economic inequality (which Robert Reich speaks of) a social problem. A very serious social problem at that, economic inequality affects everyone. From the poorest too the richest, our economic structures have been built unfairly. More taxes on the middle class and much less on the rich? In what world does that make any sense? Before watching Inequality for All I was completely unaware of economic inequality and the toll that it has put on American people. Resource Mobilization is the principle of gathering resources (i.e. money, people, skills) in order to act out social movement activities. (Best) It can be pretty tough for social movement organizations (SMOs) to gather these funds for their projects. Organizations struggle with finding resources such as time and money because donors and volunteers could always do something else instead. In the modern day, demonstration leaders use the internet and social media to advertise and draw participation into their organizations. The civil rights groups in the 60’s used a slew of different tactics in order to get their message of needed racial equality out there. Many Northern non-black supporters mailed in donations to race equality organizations in the 60’s, this demonstrates the use of conscience constituents. (Best) These types of constituents are able to support an SMO while being completely uninvolved in the physical sense. Organizations such as the NAACP, advertised their need for financial help through television news stations and radio talk shows.
