Have you ever taken the time to simply kick back and delight in your life for what it is and where it’s at? In the story, "Life is Sweet at Kumansenu,", the creator outlines the life of a lady named Bola who gets a visit from her child, Meji, who she thought did not live past labor. Later in the story, we discover that Meji is really dead and going by his mother as a phantom. The subject of "Life Is Sweet at Kumansenu" is, don't underestimate life, as portrayed through the creator's employments of setting, characterization, imagery, incongruity, and symbolism.

In "Life is Sweet at Kumansenu," the creator shows characterization through discourse and appearance., this announcement is made: "She gripped Asi to her. 'I am happy I provided for him the chance to return, forever is sweet.'" This type of characterization utilized was discourse as a part of which Bola grasped her granddaughter to herself she talked about how upbeat she was that she let Meji come see her in light of the fact that he would have the capacity to appreciate life. This is a manifestation of characterization in that it indicates the extent to which Bola thought about her child and needed him to appreciate the pith of life. Likewise,, an alternate manifestation of characterization utilized is, "He turned around from the window and took a gander at her with a contorted half-grin of adoration and trouble." This structure was that of appearance and it shows the subject in that, without the group of onlookers knowing it, Meji is dead and he is taking a gander at his living mother. He sees in her an affection forever and wishes that he himself could be encountering that kind of adoration.
