Martin Scott's The World Less Traveled

Many of us fantasize about a great life, expecting it to be exactly the way we want it. After all, is it not the purpose of life to have a great time and to soar to the heavens while on earth? This is what many religious and self-help gurus have told us! And their recipe for the greatest life is a combination of prayer, gratitude and visualization. Do these three things and all you desire can be yours! But these well-intended wise men and women really need to wake up and smell reality! Sure, their suggestions may help; however, these strategies never fully create what the gurus promise and even boldly guarantee. Intelligent action, karma, destiny, opportunities, obstacles, helpers and enemies all play as much an important role in our destination.

I agree with author Martin Scott who began his famous book “The World Less Traveled” with the statement: “Life is Difficult.” And I think the quicker you and I accept this fact, the easier will be our journey; it will lead to a path of no-resistance. We cannot allow circumstances or people to get us down. Why waste excessive time and energy concentrating on the dark grey clouds that cheats us of enjoying the beautiful rainbow of colors that is staring us in the face? The only whine we should engage in from now on is the red wine which is good (only one glass per day!) for our hearts and perhaps our moods too! We got to be strong (most times), have a sense of humor amid all the trials and injustices, and celebrate every day. Our minds are indeed very powerful and we can use it to block opened doors or open blocked doors. You deserve to be happy, but you must be mindful of the perspective that resides in your mind.
