Throughout the movie, people weren’t killed or beaten in the camps. The guards yelled a lot and said they would kill people, but it never actually happened. The people in the movie were a lot more nice too. The dad had convinced his son that the whole thing was a game, and everyone where they slept went along with it. They didn’t say anything when Guido pretended to interpret the rules of the prisoners, when really he was saying the rules of the game. Also no one told anyone that the kid didn’t die when he was supposed to. They looked out for each other through the whole movie. Throughout the whole movie, Guido is trying to protect his son from the truth of what is happening to him. When they were taken to the trains, he told him they were going on a trip for his birthday. When they arrive at the camp, he tells him they are playing a game and creates rules to protect him. For example when he had to hide because he was supposed to be dead, or when he had to be quiet because he didn’t speak german. The mom got on the train to be with them too. While they are at the camp, Guido lets his wife know they are alive by talking on the intercom and playing opera music. In the end Guido dies protecting his kid and looking for his
