The movie Life is Beautiful is about a family that endures life at the concentration camp during the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, Jews were taken away from their homes by the Nazis and put into concentration camps, in which they were treated brutally. The Holocaust left many victims dead and remains as an example that something like the Holocaust shall never happen again. Life is Beautiful, a movie about a family in a concentration camp, is an inaccurate representation of the Holocaust because it does not show a lot of the harsh aspects of life at the camps, but focuses on making survival a game.

During the Holocaust, which was during 1933-1945, Adolf Hitler was the mainly the one behind it all. He was the dictator of Germany during that time and had other leaders assist him along the way. One of them was Heinrich Himmler, who was the leading member of the Nazi party. (Trueman, 2015) The Nazis were a party under the leadership of Hitler that ruled Germany. Adolf Hitler targeted mainly Jews, but he also threatened the disabled, homosexuals, and Poles. Hitler’s main goal was to exterminate all Jews and one of the methods he used to attain that goal was concentration camps. Jews were taken into concentration camps by being stuffed into cattle cars, where they were tightly packed and there was very little room to move or breathe. (Joseph, 2012) Many Jews died throughout the ride to the concentration camps due to the harsh conditions. When arriving at the camps, Jews were stripped of their freedoms and starved. Prisoners were given very little rations of food and often had to spend their nights freezing. Many were killed, and others were put to labor. Families were separated from each other
