In the book ‘The Giver’ we are first introduced to how life is in their society. They live in a very strict and rule tight society where everyone is the same and are expected to live up to specific standards in their life . They get assigned jobs that are most suited for them . They also have no emotions and live a very colorless and bland life . The main character Jonas is very different and gets chosen for a special assignment that not just any pupil can have he is given the assignment to be the receiver of memory which is a very honorable job for a pupil.
