Life-History Interview Social workers use a collection of tools to assist in conducting a meaningful social assessment of elders by providing guided interviews with older adults. When planning for an interview a social worker would understand the time spent together, the reflection of their lives from a sociohistorical context, and social justice experiences by the elder over their lifetime. One of the positive aspects of reviewing and elder’s life come from weaving together the individual’s life. Social workers help them understand their lives in a more positive manner together, solve struggles, and make older adulthood more meaningful (Garthwait, 2007, p. 19). While attending GMI, he joined a fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) a group of who kept him grounded during his undergraduate education. While attending schools he experiences working directly in three different GM factories in Detroit, Michigan he experienced how cars are assembled and how he can improve the efficiency of the factory lines. One of the important people he learned from was the Vice President of GM. The Vice President was good with first names and during the end of meeting remembered everyone’s first name. He explained how important the first name means to a person compared to focusing solely on the person. From the college experience, he had the experience of anchoring an exam with a twelve percent even though Johnny believed he had adequate preparation. The idea of diffusion happened throughout his childhood where he did not give a thought about his career and did not care where he will end up in the future. As an adolescent Johnny was unable to face the necessity of identity development and just lives for the moment instead of thinking about the future. Johnny experiences the identity formation stage during early childhood and elementary school. During the early grades of elementary school, he just cared about the events happening during the day. Like the time when he was trying to push the merry-go-round in the school to impress the girls not knowing that another guy was already on it trying to prevent Johnny from pushing it faster. He was just at the moment trying to amaze the girls, but had competition. Additionally, Johnny went through elementary school and middle school not caring about what happened and no significant memory. Throughout his childhood to adolescent years, he lived under the identity that his parents had instilled in him that he was the model boy. Being the oldest of four boys, he had to set a role model for the rest of his siblings. His parents instilled the idea with him at a young age. The identity carried on till after he graduated high school until moving away for college. Next, he experiences the phase of moratorium where he starts exploring and understanding about himself after he moves away to college at
