As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” This quote really stands out because a lot of people constantly ask what someone what they are going to do with their life and where they want to be, and sometimes they have an answer for them because they think they had their mind made up and other times they don’t know what to say because everything they thought they had figured out, slips away. But it can also give the brain a break. Allow someone to take a breather and just live their life. There are many things taking a gap year can do for someone and there are a lot of things taking a gap year cannot do for someone. Gooverseas.com said, “Taking a gap year can help you prepare for whatever lies ahead. It is dedicated to finding yourself and potentially boost your resume with International internships. It can sharpen your understandings of yourself and where you stand in the world. If one were to spend their time wisely, it can help you stand out when you apply to college.” Taking a gap year can be one of the most amazing experiences and so can college. Some issues about taking a gap year could be that someone may never get around to actually going to college, life could potentially catch up with work and priorities can shift to where college isn’t number one on the list anymore. Life is inevitable, someone is going to have to work to make a living unless they are born into it. Everything that someone needs or would like to do requires money and sadly, so does college. It allows someone to take time to earn some money and put it in savings so they can get on their feet and start to college. But, there is a secret to this. Someone can work during college as well. Working during college can actually help in so many ways. It can help make a decision, it can put extra money in their account and even make college just a bit cheaper. According to work.chron.com, there are six advantages to working after high school, “It gives you a chance to save up some money. It give you experience and a chance to learn new skills. You can see first hand what is out there for work and what job fits you the best. It can even prepare you for the classwork you may receive and if you are a good employee, some companies may offer to pay for your college tuition.” As a high school student, one may want to avoid working but the reality that needs to be faced is that one needs to work to capture their dreams, whatever they may be. Working is a need, it may be hard at times and sometimes trying to get to where someone would like to be is not the best ride, but nothing in this life was supposed to be easy. And that is a really big eye opener to someone, whether it is them having it all figured out and then realizing they don’t or having something unexpected pop up in their life that takes precedence over almost everything going on in their life. To fix things, make things better or get to where someone is needed to be; work
