It starts by arguing the vital role DNA plays when it comes to reproduction, it’s significant due to DNA holding the chromosomes that give each human physical traits. From there it begins to discourse the process of meiosis. The female egg and male sperm. The film describes sperm being more about quantity, while the female egg is all about quality. To start off, I want to say that I loved this film. I never had an exact preconceived attitude towards this film other than hearing it was one to watch. Also, I absolutely adore Michael Cera and knowing what goofy characters he has played in the past helped me quickly accept and relate to the quirky characters we see in Juno. It is obvious that the explicit meaning of this film is the story of a teenage girl who gets pregnant.…

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is the tragic story of the young Oscar de Leon. As the author Junot Diaz puts it, “Our hero was not one of those Dominican cats everybody’s always going on about---he wasn’t no home-run hitter or a fly bachatero, not a playboy with a million hots on his jock.”(Diaz 11). Poor Oscar was just a pawn in this play between good and evil, light and dark, the fuku and the zafa. Oscar’s entire identity was the product of his family’s curse, destined to live a short, tragic life with no way to escape it.…

    Saint Benedict Miracles

While reading the Life of Saint Benedict, I found this account of Saint Benedicts life to be told in a biased and elevated way. The content is very questionable especially with a dragon reference. There were over 30 different occasions where Gregory claimed Saint Benedict preformed a miracle or prophesied. One correlation I observed with the miracle and prophesy accounts is that it is very similar to miracles performed by Jesus, there were also times I thought he was thought to have more abilities than Jesus himself had. Free will is also another concern that I have, it appears there are times that individuals do not have a choice on the actions they chose.…

Life-changing experiences, or turning points, often cause difficulty to the person who is facing them. This thought is explored in the text,” The Father of Chinese Aviation,” by Rebecca Maksel, the autobiography Warriors Don’t Cry written by Melba Pattillo Beals, and the narrative I Never Had it Made by Jackie Robinson. Feng Ru, The first Chinese Aviator, Melba Pattillo Beals, one of the first black children to go to a white school, and Jackie Robinson, the first black MLB player, have all faced life-changing experiences and, in doing so, have affected their own countries gravely. Jackie Robinson was the first, of his race, to play in major league baseball. Jackie was asked to join a major league team, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and, even though…

There have been many accomplishments throughout the history of the world, and many of those accomplishments have improved and helped the way people go through life. I admire these accomplishments of course, but I also have a few achievements of my own. In band, I have made the All-District Honor Band every year I have tried out, this past year I passed on to the second round of state, and I made a one, which is the highest score, on my snare solo and passed on to state. These are not all of the accomplishments I have made in band, nor are any of these the accomplishment that I am most proud of. The accomplishment I admire most is trying out for the percussion section and making the cut.…

Feaster Journal Entry 2 The Miracle Worker (2000 remake) We all have heard of Helen Keller's story, sad little deaf, blind and mute girl who was more animal than human, who was rescued by her teacher who did not just let her continue the lifestyle that was easiest for her family. This movie I greatly enjoyed because this time I was watching, not as a bored student watching this during school time, but a college ASL student who was able to critically think about everything that was occurring. When I first watched this, I believe it was the 1972 version during my K-12 years, it actually scared me as it felt less like a movie about the struggles than triumph of Helen's understanding, but more focus on how out of control the actress played her.…

My greatest accomplishment is my graduation. Growing up was hard because of my lack of attention due to ADHD. The school curriculum wasn’t the best, causing me to learn at a decreased rate. The teachers did not care about the students, leaving hiccups in the source material that we were learning. The teachers had bad attitudes toward the school board which also ended up in the teachers becoming lazy, boring, and not compelling enough for the students.…
