Life experiences: The SNU Adults Studies Program
When I First came to SNU I was very apprehensive about starting school. I had so much on my plate, a sick mother, working a full time job and a daughter in high school, I did not think I could not do it. My friend who had went through the program as well as a friend who was in the program at the time, they both encouraged me to go, their beliefs in my abilities to be able to go through the program, gave me the confidence to start. I guess my values have not changed. I believe your family comes first and that no amount of money can bring you true happiness. All though sometime I would like to test that theory. How you treat people in life comes back to you. My mother was believer in that concept. Working hard and setting an example for my children. I have a child in high school and grandchildren in grade school, and I want them to have a strong work ethic so that they will not have to struggle in life. SNU has gave me confidence to stick to my goal and see them through. When I was in Mrs. Humphries class she talked about how the modules would fly by and before we knew it we would be in our final module. I will go back to Mrs. Nguyen to figure out how to make up the two classes I need and how to finish up my practicum. I have a belief in myself that if I want to finish this program I can and will and the only thing that can stop me is me. I have a goal of getting a better job, starting a career doing something I enjoy and can be proud of. When I complete my bachelor’s
