Life expectancy varies due to race and social status. Until the statistics are present it is hard to understand how life expectancy is measured at birth. In this paper I will be discussing the impact of race, education, and social status on past and present life expectancy. I will be discussing life expectancy from an etic or outsiders perspective. I will also be examining an aspect from another culture from an emic or insiders perspective. Specifically I will be discussing suicide terrorism and how it impacts a culture and life expectancy.

These factors will all help with life expectancy for those who are affected by diseases and other trends like obesity. Genetic engineering can help cure, control, and possibly even prevent inheritable diseases. In recent effort to reduce obesity new advancements have been made to help reduce weight issues. Some scientists are even attempting to find a way to slow aging. Even though the advancements in technology and medical technology can benefit these health issues there are still underlying issues that are persistent among the subgroups within the United States. Education is an important factor known to influence health inequalities, and is a key component of social status. In result education is only variable that is used to measure social status that can influence health and longevity. Study results show that on average women in the United States live longer than men in any age category.
