1. What are the basic concepts of the life-course perspective? Cohorts: Is a group of persons who were born during the same time period and who experience particular social change within a given culture in the same sequence and approximately the same age (Bjorklund, 2011; D. Newman, 2012).
Transition: Is a process of gradual change that usually involves acquiring or relinquishing roles, but it can be any change in status , such as change in health status (Andrew & Ruel, 2010).
Trajectories: Involves a longer view of long-term patterns of stability and change in a person’s life, involving multiple transitions.
Life Events: Is a significant change that may produce serious and long lasting effects (Settersten, 2003a).

How are they important in social work practice? The themes are important in social work practice because it enables the practitioner to understand the different concept of individual’s lives and how historical development as influence the behavior and experiences, with this knowledge the social worker can develop an intervention plan on how to address situation. 3. Diversity may impact life course perspective either in a positive or negative way, like the story of Phoung Le the positive aspect of diversity is that she wanted are children to become more educated in using the opportunity provided in the environment and the negative aspect was the cultural idea regarding adolescent independence from their family which made lead to cultural disconnection. Also diversity can create a different perceptive in some of the decision or life choice of people.
