Melba led to less racism in schools and later lead to mixed schools. Beals was one of the nine students, the Little Rock Nine, to integrate to a white school. During September of 1957, Beals was escorted by,” fifty uniformed soldiers,” (Beals) with eight of her other colleagues to school to reassure the safety of those children. The physical threats towards these children were no laughing matter and sadly, Melba had to learn to cope with these threats during her childhood. Even some adults wanted to harm these innocent children. Some of these adults, as Beals said,” looked totally horrified, others raised their fists.” Melba knew of the violence she would face at the white school, but she was determined to take a step forwards towards equal rights for her race, and, in Beal’s words, “Step by step we climbed upwards- where none of my people had ever walked as a student.” In the face of danger, Beals, and her other courageous African-American students stayed determined and in return, paved a new way for America to see her …show more content…
Feng Ru was a self-taught engineer that immigrated from China to America at a young age. While in America, Feng tried to learn,” all he could about machines, working in shipyards, power plants, machine shops, anywhere he could acquire mechanical knowledge,”(Maksel) Soon, Ru had started to grow an interest in a new field of mechanics- aviation. Later, in the early 1900’s, Feng opened his very own airplane,” factory, building airplanes of his own design.” (Maksel) What Ru didn’t know at first, though, was that testing aircraft is very dangerous. During one specific test flight, Feng accidentally lost control of his newest aircraft prodigy which, as Maksel stated,” plunged into his workshop, setting it ablaze,” Although this wouldn’t be his last crash, Feng never gave up on his aviation career. Feng later returned to his home country. Shortly after, Ru died in a test crash, but, to this day, Feng Ru will forever be called,” The Father Chinese of Aviation.” (Maksel)
Throughout their lifetimes, Beals, Robinson, and Ru all went through several different turning points, but they each used their determination and patience to face their own obstacles. Beals had faced angry mobs, Robinson faced threats of violence, and Ru faced death itself.
