I would think Bentham would say that your actions you make will result in a great detail. Which as you look at the story what Dudley and Stephan’s did was morally and ethically wrong. We would also assume that Utilitarianism would play a big factor into the lifeboat case because ethics point of view is that the moral action is the one that maximizes utility. I also think Bentham would have used the Slippery Slope Argument because it’s going to be difficult to know where to stop at. We are not in the situation that is going on in the lifeboat case we have some clues that we wonder why Dudley and Stephan’s would do …show more content…
Because people that are influenced or affected by your decision you make. I mean not all stakeholders are equal. I do believe since we cannot go back and charge brooks for murder, and pin this all on Dudley and Stephan’s. I mean you also have to think 18 days on a lifeboat and no sign of rescue these men had to of lost there minds little bit. We also have to think we truly don’t understand the temptation they faced. As necessary the circumstances seemed where one’s life would save the rest that does not justify murder. The facts show that Dudley and Stephan’s chose the weakest person to be the victim plus Parker was not going to survive anyways. In fact by killing him, would make him no longer in pain because in the story Parker was so sick and wasn’t going to live much longer. In my opinion though this whole idea is all situational we as citizens almost need to put are self in this citation and see what we would do. Because in a court of law everyone who would look at this case would charge Dudley and Stephan’s for what they did. It is also easier said than done. I think you would almost have to look at this case from there point of view they were just trying to survive, and take the weakest link out. Finally, there are many factors that play into this case. I think with this time frame these aren’t your typical cold blooded killers. In my personal opinion I don’t even think at first they thought this was a murder
