Life, we all have it, but what we choose to do with it is up to us. I like to think of life as fluid, with many causes having many different effects. We all encounter events throughout our lives that change us and make us who we are. We need something to shape and mold us into the people we will need to be in the future. Although I have had many experiences throughout my life, I can think of two that stand out the most to me. The first thing I can think of is my grandmother being diagnosed with cancer and the second thing I can think of is my grandmother passing away. Before I was born, my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. For me, it wasn’t a massive bombshell of a statement when I was told of the great burden my grandmother carried.

My grandmother’s battle with cancer taught me many things over the years that she blessed my life. When my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, she didn’t go around depressed because of the diagnosis, she was determined that nothing was going to stop her from enjoying her life. That gave me the great impression of determination, and how life is not always going to be easy, but you have to be willing to push through the bad times if you want to live a happy and fulfilling life. My grandmother’s death at the hands of cancer alerted me to the fact that tomorrow is not promised. Your life could end at any moment, so you need to make sure that nothing goes unsaid between you, your family, and your friends. Our time on Earth is limited, so you need to make absolutely sure that your appreciation for your family and friends does not go unexpressed.
