Liberty University Reflection

I am currently a senior in the Helms School of Government at Liberty University. I found out about your Global Internship Program through Dr. Cox who teaches my Corrections class. After doing research on your website I was very impressed. Being able to practice the skills that I have learned over the years such as government relations and disaster response, while implementing my Christian worldview in serving others would be an amazing experience.
I would be a great addition to your team because of my past experience with serving on mission’s trips, living in a foreign country for a year and a half, and being on Liberty University’s student leadership team. I am a criminal justice major because of the deep need that is evident for those who

On Friday, December 2nd, I attended the Oasis Lunch and Learn event. It was located in the Oasis room in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center and the event took place from 12:00-1:00pm. I believe the majority of the people who attended were all in a multicultural club, however they did not make it clear which specific club they were all a part of. Approximately 20 students showed up to the event and the group consisted of students of all different races and backgrounds. I’ll admit I felt a little out of place at first, but as I began talking to a few of the individuals who attended, I felt very welcome and ended up having a great experience.…

I recently attended a Liberty University Convocation that really spoke to me while attending College For a Weekend. While I sat in the Vines’ Center seats, I listened to Donald Miller talk about the four kinds of people in a story: the victim, the villain, the hero, and the guide. I personally feel that my trials through life were given to me so I could fulfill the role of a guide in my life and others. My perspective is not commonly found in society today and I have a strong desire in my heart to help. I believe that Liberty University can help me grow and develop leadership skills to become what God has intended me to be to glorify him while helping others in their own individual lives.…

As a previous ambassador at my high school, I have found a fond passion of servant leadership. What I loved most of all about being an ambassador was teaching and interacting with other students who were passionate about learning and serving other people; this program brought out the best in me as a person and a Hawaiian leader. I'm hoping that being apart of these programs would help me to find a common interest and passion with others at Pace. I mainly want to work with other students who want to strengthen their leadership skills and apply those skills to life and continue to pass on these skills as words of encouragement to others. I also believe that I would bring diversity to this program because I am from the Pacific region.…

On May 20, 2016, my adviser and I sat down to have a discussion about the university required courses and courses that was mandatory for the Liberal Arts college. English 101 was one of the classes I chose to take my first semester because I knew I had more knowledge on writing efficient papers because of my previous AP English courses in high school. In high school, I was always told that I was an adequate writer because I knew the basic of connecting ideas that provided a clear concrete understanding. However, the only time I received an unsatisfactory score was when the information I included in my paper was unorganized. Also, another reason I chose to take English my first semester instead of my second semester was because I knew I needed…

How I plan to teach Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students, is to use what I have learned in EDU 305 as a guideline to apply what has been taught in class and use it for my students in the future. Ideally, I would like to teach at high school level in South Korea. I also find that helping CLD students who are learning English as their second language also fits for what I plan for the future. With high schoolers, some of the students that just came to America would not understand English well. When students starts to learn English around the ages of 15-18 years old, it can be frustrating and difficult for them.…

So far, my SCE has consisted of organizing and preparing for the start-up of this year’s National Art Honor Society chapter. In addition to inviting members to join and having our first meeting, I have been setting up for the upcoming induction as well as composing our bylaws to the NAHS constitution. As of now, I have not been able to work on my deliverable, as that project will come into play when the activities and events of NAHS begin for the school year. Final Course Reflection When I began the journey of learning the content of human growth and development, I was overwhelmed at the thought of having to understand so much content in just five weeks. To be honest, I also did not understand why we were required to learn about development of the entire lifespan. I assumed that as an aspiring school counselor, that understanding the growth and development of children ages 5 to 19 would be sufficient. My initial thoughts proved to be wrong, and further prove why this class would such a foundational course for me in my pursuit of becoming a professional school counselor.…
