Liberty Mutual Group, although commonly known just as Liberty Mutual, is a Fortune 100 company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Liberty Mutual is a global company with service in over 17 different countries and broken into four strategic business units (or SBUs); personal insurance, commercial insurance, Liberty International and Global Specialty (Our Business). These strategic business units are mostly responsible for selling different types of insurance. Liberty Mutual makes money in one of two ways: selling insurance and investing. Outside of the business units are the corporate departments that support the business units, including Finance and Information Technology. I was located in the IT Hosting Services division of the Information Technology department. Information Technology has other divisions dedicated to the specific strategic business units. IT Hosting Services is responsible for the security, infrastructure and applications of the corporate departments. Recently, Liberty Mutual has begun to consolidate the IT responsibilities of strategic business units to hosting services. One such example is seen at the IT Help Desk, which supports all 55,000 Liberty Mutual Employees regardless of location within Liberty Mutual. I was an …show more content…
The purpose of the project was to come up with an idea for an app that could be used to increase security awareness at Liberty Mutual. The group composed of IT interns from all of the departments at Liberty Mutual and led by a couple of second year interns. My role within the group was to develop the look and function of the app. As a group we had decided we would create a competitive game that included different challenges to teach employees about security.
