If Liberty Engineering Company is unable to recruit sufficient employees for the vacant positions, they should adjust the current job specifications to better appeal to potential applicants. The position includes a four-day training course at “Smoky Mountains National Park” where lodging and food is provided by the company (Nkomo, Fottler, & McAfee, 2011, p. 110). Upon completion of training, the employees would then be responsible for their own transportation to their subsequent job sites as well as lodging, and food. The firm offers a pay rate of “$11.15 per hour” with “no vacation benefits, sick days or other major benefits” with the exception Social Security (Nkomo, Fottler, & McAfee, 2011, p. 110). The employees are compensated for travel time, but would not receive any compensation for mileage. …show more content…
Based on the conditions stated above, it would be extremely difficult for the company to fill the required positions because many applicants will that the position is simply not worth it. Liberty Engineering Company could increase the probability of recruiting sufficient employees by providing more benefits such as lodging, food, and/or transportation to ensure that the surveyors would be fairly compensated. Being that the current pay rate is only “$11.15 per hour”, it would be difficult for workers to be financially responsible for all job-related travel expenses as well as their own personal financial obligations (Nkomo, Fottler, & McAfee, 2011, p.
