Hypothetically, prisoners will receive rehabilitation to adjust back into society. Liberals would say that prisoners are entitled to rehabilitation as they favor social welfare and stronger government, while conservatives would say they are not because “they doubt that it will result in something better.” There are many social welfare policies that the liberals want to give for the quality of life for individuals, such as Social Security, food stamps, and health care, while conservatives are against many of these policies and would rather raise taxes for the poor and the middle class while opposing central government. Following the core assumptions of freedom, liberals believe in pro-choice, while on the other hand, most conservatives are pro-life. When it comes to abortion policies, this is especially true. This is because American government policies are always being argued between the different views of the conservatives and liberals in individuals and society. In John Oliver’s video, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Abortion Laws,” he states how many politicians are saying regulation laws “protects women’s health” as an excuse to make stricter laws on abortion clinics which ultimately forces them to close. The majority of these laws are being created in the southern states, which have very strong conservative sentiments. For example, Alabama Women’s Center was closed and moved in order to fulfill the new regulatory laws.
