Liberally Educated Person Essay
A liberally educated person is someone who can demonstrate a variety of skills and techniques that will make them successful in school and daily activities. According to Robert A. Scott, the president of Adelphi University, considers a liberally educated person to be someone who ?fosters the ability to distinguish between what is true and what is false, with a number of different analytical perspectives: the scientific, the artistic, the humanistic, the quantitative, and the qualitative? One method can work for one child but not for others. It is then up to the teacher to teach different methods of critical thinking, speaking, writing and being innovative. This assists in teachers being able to be more diverse as well, looking into other habits of thinking to show that all diversity is possible to teach and comprehend. A teacher who shows capability of a true liberal education is preparing their students for them ?? to live responsible, productive, and creative lives in a dramatically changing world?understand the foundations of knowledge and inquiry about nature, culture and society; that we master core skills of perception, analysis, and expression; that we cultivate a respect for truth? according to the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). Educators are seeking the opportunity to be the one to influence a child and prepare them for the world that is constantly changing. Teachers are the ones who influence children on a daily basis and can be the everlasting effect for a child to be independent and different. Educators need to be able to be open minded when it comes to certain subjects such as culture. Students need to relate with their teachers to get that proper multicultural education to succeed not only in school but also life. As the world changes, individuals have to learn how to adapt to it and with that comes liberal education. Liberally educated people are able to solve real world problems with open critical thinking minds. A liberal education can benefit many types of thinkers and can overall expand into have a multicultural education. Liberally educated individuals look for the beauty in situations. Liberal education is important in the sense that it gives us the Habits of Mind, aspects that make us unique and successful in life. It is beneficial that people see the advantages that can come from being open to new ideas of the truth. Valuing a sense of understanding to comprehend why it is that life is this way and what can we do to change it and that it is possible to change it. Value liberally educated
