Different universities come with different backgrounds. The majority of universities in California are liberal. As a result, Conservatives are the minority. Most seminars and speakers who visit Universities such as UCSB are liberal. It is very unusual to see a conservative speaker in the UC system. I Belive that liberals are seeking attention much more than conservative. Whenever there is a conservative speaker on the campus all the liberal students come and rally against it. They call they fellow student names like "racist" or "sexist" and they do anything to cancel that seminar.
