Today, important topics such as politics and religion are avoided in discussions, causing many people to not be aware of the problems in their society. As Marvin Olasky says in Prodigal Press: The Anti-Christian Bias of the American News Media, “Using attention-grabbers, skillfully constructed stories, and careful placement of articles… talented individuals are able to pull wool over untrained eyes.” People are fed information that is incorrect or biased, and they do not realize it because the bias is well camouflaged by the writers. For example, there is much liberal bias in celebrity-based articles. People idolize celebrities, and writers give biased messages discretely by camouflaging them under information about the celebrity. An article written about a celebrity could have positive leans for issues such as abortion or LGBTQ, but people do not realize it because they are distracted by the new music or movie mentioned in the article. People support an issue indirectly because they want to read an entertaining article about a person upon whom too much importance is placed. It can be so difficult to find these sources because “ownership of the media. . . had become too concentrated.” There may be several websites available, but a there could only be a few owners and editors which work for multiple websites. While there are available sources that have more conservative views, they are often harder to find compared to the liberal sources because of this. It does not help that more popular websites tend to be the first options that appear in a search, and those websites tend to be liberal. When sites and sources are found that have conservative beliefs, they are often attacked and ridiculed as incompetent sources, and are often not allowed to be used in most modern public education. When the internet was made, “it was thought that a truly democratic and honest means of sharing information had arrived.” However, this was not the case.
