Liam O Flaherty The Sniper

In the short story written by Liam O’Flaherty takes place in Dublin, Ireland during the civil war. During the first few paragraphs the main character is hiding on top of the roof of a building near the O’Connel Bridge. The Sniper is a person in the army who hides in places to keep a visual on the enemy. Snipers usually shoot the enemy if they have a good shoot or if they are too close to the rest of the unit. The war is between the free states and the Republicans, the sniper is on the side of the Republicans. Liam O’Flaherty reveals the main character in many ways. For example, the author uses the words “a man who is used to looking at death. This phrase is effective because it gives us the idea that the sniper has seen many deaths and
