Lialma is the widow of Abdi, one of the pilots. She was born in 1970 and states that she is “43 or 44”. Her son, Tamin, who is 25, was present with her at the deposition. She had spoken with Karima Sadiqi on the telephone regarding her appearing for the deposition.
Lialma speaks, reads and writes only Dari. She completed the eleventh grade and has not worked outside of the home. She and Abdi had been married for over twenty years. Abdi was “forty-six or maybe forty-eight” when he died. She has not remarried and has no plans to remarry.

One of Abdi’s three sisters had mental health issues subsequent to the accident caused by the loss of her brother. She became paralyzed and has since died because of the issues. One of his other sisters lost a leg to diabetes. One of his three brothers has a heart condition, but the others are healthy. Both of his parents died before the accident. His father had high blood pressure and his mother died shortly after having a stroke.
The witness testified that Karima Sadiqi told her sometime before filing the lawsuit that Honeywell had a radar device on the plane that was supposed to sound a warning when the plane was approaching the mountains. He never complained regarding having difficulty understanding the air traffic controllers. He never made any complaints to her of the equipment on the planes, Pamir Airways, its planes or the air traffic controllers. He never complained about the “radar device” on the planes or of any of Honeywell’s equipment. She has never heard him mention an “Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System” and does not know if he received training on how to use one. She does not have any information regarding Abdi’s training as a pilot, his license, certifications or ratings.
